One-year-old Girl Attacked by Family Dog in Falmouth

EAST FALMOUTH — A i-twelvemonth-old daughter suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday morning time as the effect of an set on by the family dog that ended with her father fatally stabbing the pit bull terrier, according to Falmouth police force and burn down personnel.
Rescue personnel responded at 8:54 a.m. to 29 Brick Kiln Road and immediately requested backup for a "significant injury," Falmouth fire Capt. Scott Starbard said. Rescuers chosen a medical helicopter and brought the child to Falmouth Hospital for stabilization because the wait time for the helicopter was 45 minutes, he said. She was then transferred to the helicopter and flown to a Boston-surface area hospital, according to Falmouth constabulary.
The child's name is Remmy Goulart, co-ordinate to her great-uncle, Ron Goulart, who was outside the house Sunday afternoon. Remmy's parents, Reece Goulart and Stephenie Schauberger, own the house at 29 Brick Kiln Route, co-ordinate to neighbors and town records.

The father tried to separate the dog from his daughter merely was unable to practice so, according to the statement. He retrieved a pistol from an adjacent room but, upon realizing it was unloaded, grabbed a knife and began stabbing the animal, ultimately killing it.
The attack appears to have been unprovoked, according to police.
A pit balderdash named Blue is registered to Reece and Stephanie Goulart at 29 Brick Kiln Route, co-ordinate to boondocks records. Falmouth law Chief Edward Dunne said law did not learn the dog's name Sunday considering they were focused on the child.
Finding out more about the domestic dog and its past will be part of an ongoing investigation, he said, though it appeared initially that the canis familiaris had no history of aggression.

A "canis familiaris vs. person" incident involving a pit bull named Blue occurred on May 12, 2016, according to Falmouth animal control records, but information technology is unclear if that is the same dog that attacked Remmy Goulart.
Ron Goulart said he didn't meet or hear the assault Lord's day morning, simply said he ever knew his nephew's pit bull, Blue, to exist friendly.
"The domestic dog was like a puppy," he said. "I don't know what would make an brute do that to a kid."
Alyssa Mello, who lives near 29 Brick Kiln Road, said she'd never had a negative experience with the dog.
"I've never had whatsoever bad interactions with it," she said. "It's such a well-behaved canis familiaris."
Mello said she couldn't believe that such an attack could occur there.
"They're excellent neighbors," she said of Goulart and his family. "Nosotros were shocked that information technology happened."
Another neighbor, Jocelyn Laurie, said she'd never interacted with Blue, simply she'd seen the dog in Reece Goulart's chiliad and it appeared to exist well-behaved. She said Reece and his wife are corking people who love their daughter.
"I know how much they dearest that dog, too," she said. "I don't know how that would've happened."
Sunday's assault comes later a series of incidents on Greatcoat Cod involving aggression by dogs.
On Dec. 27, a pit bull mix seriously injured a PetSmart groomer in Hyannis later on its muzzle was removed for a grooming appointment. The dog, named Bubba, was the same canis familiaris that mauled a Forestdale woman in September afterwards breaking off his leash during a walk. Bubba was euthanized Dec. 28 after existence voluntarily surrendered by his owners.
The following mean solar day, Dec. 28, a xanthous Labrador retriever mix, ripped a teenage boy's ear after the teen moved and surprised the dog, according to town officials.
